Accompaniment & Advocacy
Legal Accompaniment / Advocacy
SARA staff and volunteers are trained to provide information about the
criminal justice system, to discuss reporting options, and to help survivors through the legal process if she/he chooses to report. We provide accompaniment to court or the police station and are trained to work with police, lawyers, victim-witness and the courts. If a survivor chooses to have evidence collected (PERK), SARA provides accompaniment to the Emergency Room where the evidence is collected by trained nurses.
Medical Accompaniment / Advocacy
Immediately following an assault, a survivor’s safety and health are a priority. SARA staff and volunteers are trained to answer questions about injuries, STI's, pregnancy, and other health related questions. We are also prepared to offer information and referrals on resources in the community and to provide accompaniment to the Emergency Room, Health Department, or other health facility.
