Support groups can be a great source of healing. SARA can provide those affected by sexual assault with a safe place to share experiences, express feelings, and learn effective coping skills that will help in the healing process.  All support groups are confidential and free of charge.

On-going groups

SARA offers several on-going support groups to children, teenagers, adult survivors, and parents/caregivers of children who have been sexually abused. Please contact the SARA office at 434-295-7273 for more information about each group.

Adult Survivor Support Group

Support groups for adult survivors of sexual assault. A supportive environment where a survivor can share their experiences, express their feelings and beliefs, as well as  learn effective coping skills that will help them in their healing process.

Parent & Caregiver Support Group

This support group for parents and caregivers (grandparents, foster parents, etc) of children who have been sexually abused provides a safe place where parents and caregivers can share their experiences and gain support from one another.

Creative Expressions

A monthly support group for high school girls who are survivors of sexual assault provides a safe place where adolescents can share their experiences, express their feelings and learn effective coping skills through the use of creative arts and techniques.

Therapeutic Horseback Riding

SARA and Gallastar Equine Center partner to provide therapeutic horseback riding workshops for girls ages 8-12. Check Upcoming Events for the next scheduled workshop.
