Volunteer
Volunteers have always played a vital role in SARA's mission to assist and empower people who have experienced sexual assault. SARA seeks both men and women to be trained as Volunteer Sexual Assault Advocates, or Community Outreach Volunteers.
Volunteer Sexual Assault Advocates:
Volunteer Sexual Assault Advocates provide information, referrals and crisis intervention to survivors and their families on SARA’s 24-hour hotline. They also provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of sexual violence at local hospitals.
We require that all potential Hotline Advocates provide us with a completed application (below) and three references. The second step is to interview with the SARA volunteer coordinator, and the third step is a background check. Finally, all Hotline Advocates participate in a 40-hour training that spans seven weeks, either in the Fall or Spring.

Community Outreach Volunteers:
Community Outreach Volunteers assist with non-client based outreach and education events as well as general SARA needs. Becoming a Community Outreach Volunteer allows volunteers to follow their interests while dedicating as much or as little time as they have available. Community Outreach Volunteers can organize and participate in community awareness events, support and organize large SARA events and provide essential help with basic office duties and projects.
